Arizona Wildcats x Legacy Collection
19nine’s Legacy Collection dives inside the archives to bring back some college basketball classics. Like the originals, we crafted each Legacy pair of retro shorts with the materials and details to honor the original designs. It was a labor of love in our pursuit to provide an era specific keepsake that celebrates the most iconic styles in college basketball history.
'94 Wildcat Legacy
Thunder and Lightning. That's what Arizona fans remember about the 1993-1994 season. Khalid Reeves (Thunder) and Damon Stoudamire (Lightning) was Lute Olson's dynamic backcourt that led the Wildcats to the Final Four.
After the NCAA loss to Santa Clara in '93, Olson decided to change his coaching philosophy and play through his guards rather than his big men. This was music to his best two players ears.
Stoudamire remembers it as the turning point for the upcoming season. "We pressed, we trapped, we played with cohesion. It's what started off my best year in college and we wound up winning the Pac-10 and going to the Final Four."
Reeves, a consensus All-American, led the team is scoring at 24 points per game followed by his future All-American backcourt mate Stoudamire at 18. This lethal scoring duo led Arizona to a 25-5 regular season and with wins over Loyola, Virginia, Louisville and Missouri, a trip to Charlotte and the Final Four.
